Slow Play - Ready Golf

Slow play is annoying when the group in front of you has lost touch with the group in front of them. Particularly when the slow group doesn't let you through or is clearly not making an effort to catch-up to groups in front. Everyone understands that a lost ball or two on a hole can temporarily slow a group down, but when that group does not make an effort to make up the time, well that's just poor form. Of course this then affects groups down through the field and turns what should be an enjoyable day on the course for everyone, into at the very least, an unpleasant golfing experience. The later starters are more significantly impacted and can lead to frustration when their game is taking way too long.

Players are expected to be mindful of the distance between their own group and the group in front: remember, your place in the field is behind the group in front, not "only just" in front of the group behind.

In light of recent complaints, we have provided some tips for those that need to look at their group's speed of play. These tips when utilised can help you to catch up with the group in front to make it fair for everyone. All players should have a reasonable expectation to be able complete their round in a reasonable time-frame. While one person or group may have the whole day to play, others simply may not, so it is not fair and is selfish to unreasonably delay others with Slow Play.
