Veterans at Leonay

In 1994 a competition commenced for male and female members who had attained the age of 50 years of age. Whilst a weekly competition does not operate now for Vets the age criteria is applied for prizes associated with the Monthly Medal and Club Championships. Other events unique to Vets is the Points Score Challenge and Xmas Party Ambrose.

Leonay is a member of Western Sydney Region Veteran Golf Association (WSRVGA) along with Glenmore Heritage Valley, Dunheved, Penrith, Wallacia, Springwood, Stonecutters Ridge and Richmond. Each of these clubs is required to hold an Open day each calendar year.  To play in Open days members are required to be registered with the Association and be over 55 for males and 50 for females. The registration also allows access to over 50 weeks of golf events throughout New South Wales.

Veterans golf is seen as an important part of the community in providing the opportunity for senior members to exercise both physically and mentally, socialise, have competitive stimulation and provide a sense of belonging.
