Don Watson Trophy
2025/2026 Qualifying
Hello Golfers,
Just a reminder that the December Monthly Medal (6th December 2025) is the qualifying round for the Don Watson Trophy.
In order to be eligible, you MUST mark "MP" on your score card.
Every year in December, Leonay Golf Club and the members commemorate Don's life by playing in the December Monthly Medal, from which the Top 32 nett qualifiers play in a series of Handicapped Match Play knock-out rounds. The yearly winners of the Final have their names inscribed on the much coveted trophy that bares Don's name.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR DON WATSON TROPHY
Entrants must be a financial member of Leonay Golf Club in one of the following categories prior to the start of any Match Play event:
- Full Male, Senior Male, Intermediate Male (I or II) or Junior Male Membership.
- Female members are not permitted to play in Men’s Match Play events.
- A member must hold a valid Golf Australia handicap.
- Members must remain financial over the duration of the Match Play event.
CONDITIONS OF PLAY DURING DON WATSON MATCH PLAY ROUNDS
- Must play from WHITE PLATES. Exceptions are; 3rd hole -use front of tee-box and 14th hole - use white domes.
- Players need to contact their respective opponents to arrange a suitable date and time to play their match.
- Players need to write their contact number on the Draw Sheet on the notice board outside the Pro Shop.
- Players can approach the Pro Shop to get their opponent's contact number.
- Both opposing Players need to make reasonable efforts to arrange their Match Play match.
- Neither the Pro Shop nor the Match Committee are to be used as a message service between opponents.

- 1st Round:- by 11thJanuary, 2026
- 2nd Round:- by 15thFebruary, 2026
- 3rd Round:- by 8thMarch, 2026
- Semi Finals:- by 29thMarch, 2026
- FINAL:- by 12thApril, 2026
