Juniors: Encourage Shield R4

Encourage Shield 2025
Round 3 at Campbelltown

Leonay travelled to Campbelltown and played Lakeside Camden where they recorded their first win of the year.  What a result!  Congratulations to this young and enthusiastic team who have represented themselves and the club so well.

This win is a result of the dedication and hard work put in by all players who have developed into a close-knit team. As an example, Logan Schempp had 4 wisdom teeth removed through the week and could not play but was determined to attend the game and support his team. Logan was seen all over the place, giving support where he could. What an effort Logan.

Fletcher Birks remains undefeated, having another convincing win 6/5.  The most pleasing results came from Harry Commins and Blake McNally winning their respective matches 4/3 and 6/5.  This was their first wins of the year.

What about the win of Len Partridge?!  All matches had been completed except for Len's match.  At this stage Leonay had already 3 matches in the bag and needed Len to win to record their first win.

After unluckily losing the 15th hole, Len was 2 down with 3 holes to play.  What a remarkable 3 holes of golf Len played, playing off a 26 handicap, staying composed he played shots any A Grade golfer would be proud of to win the next 3 holes, winning 1up enabling Leonay to record their first win.

A couple of notable shots were his tee shot on the par 3, 17 hole where he knocked it to 10 feet, then on the 18th hole his second shot went through the green and really he had no shot, but that did not faze Len as he hit a remarkable chip to finish about 10 feet past the hole and of course he then holed the putt.

The next and final round is at Lakeside Camden where they play Penrith.

Les Knox, a very proud Assistant Manager.
