Report after Round 2
The 2025 Leonay Major Pennants team consists of past 2024 Division 5 winners of Adam Brennan (as Captain), Jake Thompson, Zac Lange, Anthony Wright, Cal Curry, and Dave Stevenson with new recruits making their debuts; James Devlin and Jordan D'Ermillio.
Being promoted to Division 4 for 2025, this has provided new challenges for the boys which were experienced by the team; facing more experienced competition, extended distances in travel and tee times of 7am, the oppositions are located at The Coast, Northbridge and Palm Beach.
Game 1:- versus The Coast at La Perouse.
A great location watching the sun rise over the horizon after leaving home in the dark. The result favoured The Coast 5/2, overall the result was not indicative of the effort the teams performance on the day. Winners on the day Jake and James with other results coming down to the wire.
Game 2:- versus The Coast at Leonay.
With a more realistic tee time, the return match was against The Coast at home. The course was in a good playable condition considering the down pour the night before. The players were keen to reverse previous weeks results at home, but it was not to be ... again The Coast prevailed, winning 4½ to 2½ with Anthony and Dave producing the goods and Jake's ½ on the last hole.
Overall, the players are performing to their best abilities playing an opposition that has played a few of the past years in Division 4 and with some luck on their side, chipping off the green and sinking long-distance putts. Next game against Northbridge; again early start and another tight course full of challenges. Perched along the side of a hill, the players will accept the challenge and be better for the experience of the previous two matches.
